Trent Alexander-Arnold has been handed a boost in his hopes of facing Liverpool in November.

It comes despite the England full-back being forced off five minutes into Real Madrid's Champions League opener .

Alexander-Arnold 's European debut for his new side came to an abrupt end against Marseille on Tuesday night.

The 26-year-old had been selected to start at right-back ahead of Dani Carvajal by Xabi Alonso.

However, he was soon replaced by the Spaniard after a hamstring injury left the summer signing in agony.

Alonso provided an update on Alexander-Arnold's injury after the match, which saw Real Madrid come from behind to win.

The Los Blancos boss told reporters: "We'll wait a bit; maybe it's not as bad as it seems. We have to be creative in finding solutions.
