FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -- A 36-year-old man has been charged with murder in connection with the shooting that killed a 3-year-old boy over the weekend, the Florence County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.

Kenneth Washington Jr. of Hemingway was booked into the Florence County Detention Center on Tuesday. His charges stem from the death of Antonio Burgess Jr. of Hemingway.

Washington is accused of driving a co-defendant to the incident location, which happened around midnight Saturday in the 900 block of Midway Highway, and remaining present during the killing, the sheriff's office said. Washington also allegedly aided and assisted the co-defendant after the shooting and made no effort to contact law enforcement or render aid to Burgess.
