LAKE CITY, S.C. (WBTW) — Lake City recently found itself with no reserve funds and in a budget financial crisis and now city employees are facing furloughs and possible layoffs.
Interim City Administrator Steve Thompson says investments made by the city and not receiving expected returns has lake city making some hard decisions. “Furloughs have started not a lot of impact and really furloughs by definition are temporary, so we’ve gone through the furloughs now we are transitioning more into layoffs.”
