DARLINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -- A man held in Darlington County jail in connection with a crime spree is now facing a murder charge in a deadly fire last week, Sheriff Michael August said Tuesday.

Jody Hairston was charged with murder and possession of burglary tools, August said. He was previously charged with two counts of armed robbery, first-degree arson, first-degree burglary, two counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime, second-degree burglary and grand larceny.

Hairston allegedly stabbed the victim, whose name has not been released, in the throat with a knife at an Eagle Point Drive residence, arrest warrants show. He's accused of then setting the kitchen area on fire before stealing the person's 2016 Ford Fusion.
