TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - The University of Arizona is making history with a record $257 million investment in partnerships with Native American communities.
From the campus building signs displaying Indigenous languages, to cutting-edge research across 21 academic colleges, the university is embedding tribal engagement into its core mission.
“We’re doing everything we can to increase awareness of our tribes,” said Levi Esquerra, Special Advisor for Native American Advancement and Tribal Engagement at the U of A. “A lot of times people say, ‘oh, tribes - past tense.’ Yeah, we have a past, some good, some bad, but in reality, we’re here today and the future’s bright.”
