MONMOUTH Ore. (KPTV) - The Oregon Attorney General is warning folks about an increase of card skimmers at grocery and convenience stores across the state, and the impact on those who use EBT cards to redeem their SNAP benefits.
Due to federal funding cuts, the Oregon Department of Human Services can no longer replace the money stolen from an EBT card.
One mother in Monmouth, Ore., found that out the hard way this week.
“I was grocery shopping with my daughter, we finished, got in the line, and when I went to go scan the card and it just kept coming back saying it wasn’t working. I tried again because I was sure I just got my benefits,” Alisha said.
After multiple attempts to run her EBT card, Alisha checked her SNAP balance on her phone. When she saw the number on her screen, her heart
