PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - A 21-year-old has been arrested on charges including manslaughter after police say he drove a scooter carrying another person into a tractor trailer in northeast Portland.
Portland Police say Jayden S. Calkins, 21, of Beaverton was arrested after turning himself in on Wednesday.
According to investigators, Calkins was riding on a Lime e-scooter with a passenger, identified as 24-year-old Gerardo A. Ortiz Henriquez, when he hit a tractor trailer in the Lloyd District on August 17.
Henriquez was killed as a result of the crash, and Calkins was taken to the hospital.
Police believe alcohol impairment was a factor.
