PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - Portland City Councilor Candace Avalos has released the price tag for a taxpayer-funded trip to Austria to study affordable housing, saying the cost was justified by what she and other officials learned abroad.

In a blog post column on her official city websit e, Avalos’ office said her travel to Vienna — along with two staff members — totaled nearly $19,677.14 or about $6,559.04 per person to be exact.

The post, written by Avalos’ chief of staff, said the money came from the councilor’s existing office budget, which each councilor can use at their discretion.

Two other city councilors, Jamie Dunphy and Mitch Green, also attended with their respective chiefs of staff. Only Councilor Green’s office provided their total cost of travel to FOX 12 in time for this st
