SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - The South Dakota Department of Corrections is under the spotlight as an investigation at the State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls unfolds.

Attorney General Marty Jackley called it a conspiracy and described an investigation into drugs and other illegal activity inside and outside of the State Penitentiary.

Over a month ago, Dakota News Now received tips about DOC staff being investigated for illegal activities. Their social media accounts confirmed that they worked for the DOC.

Some have asked why we didn’t report on this or the numerous accounts of staff being walked off the job out of respect for the Attorney General’s Office and its ongoing investigation. Our goal became the same, allowing time to investigate every DOC employee possible.
