A Shoalhaven nurse has been given a 12-month community corrections order after damaging property, threatening a woman and elbowing a police officer.

Demi Townsend, 36, from Nowra, pleaded guilty to intimidation, assaulting and hindering police, and two counts of property damage at Nowra Local Court on Tuesday, September 16.

The court heard that on August 25, Townsend threatened and damaged the property of a victim, and the following day elbowed a police officer while resisting arrest.

Magistrate Lisa Viney described Townsend's actions as "appalling" and said they appeared to be "largely out of character".

Defence lawyer Gary Anderson said the offences stemmed from the breakdown of a relationship, with Townsend believing the victim was involved with her partner.
