A new Sunday brunch event is set to debut in Charlotte this weekend.

Gospel & Grits, held at 3rd & Fernwood restaurant in South End, will combine Southern cuisine with gospel hits from the ’90s and 2000s.

The event is a collaboration between 3rd & Fernwood owner Greg Collier; Dennis Reed Jr., who directs Sainted Trap Choir; local entrepreneur Curtis Walls and event promotion company Nx Level.

According to the ticketing website, gospel classics will be “remixed with soul, flavor and energy” in a manner that resembles Kanye West’s Sunday Service Choir or the Charlotte-based Sainted Trap Choir.
