GRAND FORKS — More than $15 million has been dedicated by the Federal Aviation Administration for upgrades at Grand Forks International Airport.
The funds were announced Wednesday by the office of Sen. John Hoeven, R-North Dakota. Hoeven is a member of the Senate Transportation Appropriations Committee.
In total, the funding amounts to $15,157,068, to be used in support of reconstruction of the primary runway, and taxiway pavement and lighting. The funds are part of the federal Airport Improvement Program.
Grand Forks International's runway upgrades have been ongoing and are being done in phases, with an overall cost of $60 million, of which approximately $40 million is coming from the federal government, according to a release from Hoeven's office.
