LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Lexington police are investigating a Thursday morning shooting that left someone fighting for their life.

The Lexington Fire Department said first responders were called around 11:08 a.m. on Sept. 18 to the intersection of Winburn Drive and McCullough Drive in response to a shooting.

Crime scene tape is visible near the Winburn Fruit Supermarket, and FOX 56 crews on scene said that a helicopter is circling the area.

"There has been a shooting that is actively under investigation. Our office has been in contact with LPD, and they are working to get traffic flowing as quickly and safely as possible. Please use caution in the area and seek alternate routes if you can," Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council Member Tyler Morton wrote on Facebook.
