A serious crash on Cape Cod is causing major traffic delays on Route 6 on Thursday.

Bourne police said in a Facebook post around noon that the Mid-Cape Highway, also known as Route 6, is closed between Sandwich and the Cranberry Highway (Route 2) at the Sagamore Bridge due to a crash.

Massachusetts State Police and Bourne police are assisting with traffic and providing first aid.

Police said delays should be expected for anyone traveling in the area.
