The Columbia Fireflies fell 8-2 last night after surrendering a four-run ninth inning to the Lynchburg Hillcats in the deciding game of the Carolina League Championship Series.
Lynchburg broke things open in the top of the first inning with Kendry Chourio issuing a lead-off walk to Juneiker Caceres. Riley Nelson then knocked a ball to right field to put Lynchburg in front by a pair.
Adding to their lead in the third, Caceres drove a cue ball single down the third baseline and was tripled home by Dean Curley. The next batter, Cannon Peebles, doubled to left-center to put the Hillcats up 4-0.
