LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Kentucky State Lawmaker Steve Doan is making a push to remove ultra-processed foods from school cafeterias across the commonwealth as part of the legislature’s Make America Healthy Again Task Force.
The measure is similar to House Bill 439, a bill that Doan sponsored during the previous regular session.
It would make changes to the food available in cafeterias, vending machines, school stores and canteens.
During a Make American Healthy Again Task Force meeting, Representative Doan described how defining what “ultra-processed” means is actually more difficult than you’d think.
