WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. -- West Memphis, Arkansas, authorities are preparing for a potential crime surge after a police pursuit was initiated by the Arkansas State Police overnight and the announcement of National Guard deployment in Memphis.
Overnight, there was a heavy law enforcement presence, with at least a dozen officers, troopers, and deputies from Tennessee and Arkansas joining forces for an incident that ended along the interstate.
Coming in to help were other officers from other agencies.
There was an increased police presence for drivers traveling over the bridge into West Memphis.
This may be just the beginning of more patrolling officers, with the possible arrival of the National Guard.
