LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Nevada's unemployment rate declined slightly in August to 5.3%, according to a jobs report released on Thursday.

The chief economist for the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) described the current job market as "stationary."

"The August report shows a labor market that is largely stationary. The total number of jobs is now effectively unchanged from a year ago, and the unemployment rate fell slightly as some unemployed individuals left the labor market," DETR's David Schmidt said.
