Nevada’s unemployment rate edged down to 5.3% in August, a decrease of a tenth of a percentage point from July, according to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.

The state’s jobless rate remains above the national average of 4.3%, continuing Nevada’s streak as one of the highest in the country.

Nevada’s labor force shrank by 1,303 workers in August. Nonfarm employment held steady at 1,570,100 jobs, showing no year-over-year change and a decline of 3,800 jobs since July.
