DARLINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -- A man turned himself in to Darlington County authorities on Thursday in connection with a rape investigation, Sheriff's Michael August's office said.

James Scott III allegedly raped a woman in the Darlington area on Aug. 23, according to arrest warrants, which said he had a gun during the attack. He is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

No additional information was immediately available. Scott is being held at the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center.
