JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WTAJ) -- A foundation that planned on acquiring and renovating the historic State Theater in downtown Johnstown has stepped away from the project, leaving the future uncertain.

The Johnstown State Theater Foundation announced it has ceased plans to acquire the venue from Medical Properties Trust, an investment group used by Duke LifePoint Healthcare. Duke LifePoint is the parent company of Conemaugh Health System.
