Part of the coalition’s mission is strengthening confidence in vaccines and science-based medicine

Rhode Island has joined the Northeast Public Health Collaborative, a coalition of states and New York City that aims to promote and protect evidence-based public health, the Department of Health (RIDOH) announced Thursday, Sept. 18.

A voluntary association, the collaborative seeks to bolster trust in public health, including vaccines, as well as share resources and expertise in case of health emergencies.

Its formation comes as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices is meeting to vote on vaccine recommendations. The committee was entirely scrapped by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. earlier this year, who appointed some membe
