ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) — Some local lawmakers spoke with constituents Thursday about the state’s budget as the clock keeps ticking in Harrisburg.

The budget is now 80 days past due.

Senator Judy Ward (R-30th District) said it comes down to a difference of opinion on where the money should be spent.

"Transportation has been a sticking point. Mass transit in Philadelphia and Allegheny County. There's been a push to give them more money, give them reoccurring funding. But we also have to consider roads and bridges in rural areas," Sen. Ward said.

Sen. Ward said she's hopeful lawmakers will be able to meet in the middle on the budget within the next few weeks but acknowledges that taxpayers are already worried what will happen if the funding doesn't come through soon.
