RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — It’s something we have all dealt with for years and wait times at the DMV are not getting any better.

Recently released data shows the average wait time is about 2 hours and 45 minutes. The worst wait time not only in our area but state-wide, appears to be the Cary office.

New data from the NCDMV looks at average wait times at locations across the state, and the timer starts when the customer checks in. The data is for a four-week period ending on Sept. 8.

CBS 17 spoke with customers at the Cary location on Thursday.

"I was here for about seven hours today, but yeah I walked out with my license so that's great,” said Sarah Moncelle, who told us she switched her license over to North Carolina after recently moving.

She says first, she waited in quite a line.
