Work to move the Town of Banff’s iconic welcome sign has been paused following the discovery of a potential archaeological site.
During an excavation in early September to prepare the sign’s new home at the Banff Train Station, glass items dating to the late 1800s were found along with construction materials of an undetermined age and function, said a Parks Canada official.
