A city council vote this week has paved the path for a pilot project next year that would ban open drug use in Calgary.
A request to strengthen the city’s bylaws to enable peace and transit officers to seize and dispose of unknown substances, and then refer those using illicit drugs in public through a court diversion program, was supported Tuesday.
