A Windsor man has been sentenced to life in prison with no parole eligibility for 14 years in the stabbing death of his wife.
Ramadhan Nizigiyimana killed the woman at a gathering of Rwandan refugees at a home in Windsor in October 2021.
He was sentenced Thursday afternoon by Justice Maria Carroccia after pleading guilty to second-degree murder.
His lawyer, Patricia Brown, says the decision Carroccia offered was balanced.

"She arrived at balanced decision that was tailor-made and fit for this very unfortunate situation," she said.
Crown attorney Jayme Lesperance called it "an entirely fair and reasoned decision in the circumstances."
Brown had asked for parole ineligibility for 10 years, while the Crown had asked for 15 to 1
