MARION COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -- Duke Energy spent the day on Thursday replacing wooden poles with metal ones to help reduce power outages, and they were using some massive equipment to get the work done.
The trucks are used year-round for storm response and power restoration, and for the growing communities in the Pee Dee, says Duke Energy spokesperson Logan Stewart.
"People really [are] moving across the Carolinas, and we're going to have to deliver not only more reliable power, but power to more people," he said. "So we've got to prepare for the increased capacity and do it to protect against outages as a whole."
