MESA, Ariz. — When most people think of their local library, they think of books. And with good reason, there are millions of books stored at thousands of public libraries across the nation.

But did you know that with a public library card, you gain access to more than just books?

September is National Library Card Signup Month, and it is an opportunity Mesa Public Library is taking to share all you can do with one swipe of a library card.

"Books are a staple, a core service of public libraries, but we do so much more with your library card," Erin Jones, who serves as the branch coordinator of the Main Mesa Public Library, said.

If you go to one of the branches of the Mesa public library system in person, patrons have access to physical books, movies, music, games, and even stuff
