PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A Phoenix man has been arrested after police say he threatened to shoot up a gay bar near his apartment reportedly because he was angry about recent political violence across the country.
On Wednesday, Phoenix police arrested Treven Michael Gokey, 49, on accusations of making a terroristic threat and using a computer to threaten, both of which are felonies.
Court paperwork revealed that officers were called out to Gokey’s apartment for a welfare check after a crisis hotline reported that Gokey had made threats to shoot up Cruisin’ 7th , a popular LGBT bar near Seventh Street and Osborn Road, because he said he was “triggered by political events.”
