Brits have been warned to “call 111 urgently” if they spot a certain skin symptom. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) explained that this could be an indicator of measles. ‌

Measles is a highly contagious infection best known for causing a rash . It is particularly dangerous to babies and young children and can cause serious complications such as pneumonia and seizures if not caught in time. ‌

In a post made to social media platform X, the UKHSA urged people to look for the telltale rash of measles. It said: “A blotchy, sometimes raised, rash is one of the signs of measles. ‌

“It’s not usually itchy, and it can look different on different skin tones. If you think you or your child has measles, call your GP practice or NHS 111 urgently.”
