(Yahoo! Sports) Former Florida baseball pitcher Philip Abner called up by Arizona Diamondbacks

Former Florida pitcher Philip Abner was promoted to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday, Sept. 18.

Abner, 23, registered 70 strikeouts, 16 walks, and recorded a 3.07 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP in 58.2 innings.

The left-handed reliever climbed the system quickly, registering just 8.1 innings, 11 strikeouts, three walks, while not allowing any runs for Triple-A Reno.
