A man was arrested near Calera Elementary School Friday morning.

Police received a call before 8 a.m. about a suspicious person in the neighborhood near the school, who ran from police when they arrived.

The school resource officer and staff secured the nearby school when they were notified, according to Calera police.

"There was never a threat to the school from this incident," police posted on Facebook.

The suspect had felony warrants and was taken into custody within minutes.

The suspect's name and charges have not been released at this time.
