Fountain Park was packed with spectators as Ballet Arizona kicked off its annual "Ballet Under the Stars" series of performances in Fountain Hills Sept. 18, the first of six free Valley shows taking place over the next week.

Presented by the Diane and Bruce Halle Foundation, this family-friendly event offers communities a chance to experience the beauty of ballet under the open sky.

This year’s Ballet Under the Stars includes excerpts from both contemporary and classic ballets, giving audiences a taste of the variety of performances they can expereience at the theater. The show opens with excerpts from “The Sleeping Beauty,” followed by an emotional performance from “Nocturne,” which plays out to Frederic Chopin’s “Nocturne No. 13.” Each show features a
