LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The Lincoln Airport received a $41 million grant from the Department of Transportation to complete the final phase of their runway project.
U.S. Senator Deb Fischer shared the announcement on Friday, congratulating the airport.
The grant was awarded through the Airport Improvement Project and will be used to support the final phase and reconstruction of Runway 18/36 at the airport.
Due to the significant length of Runway 18/36, the Department of Defense uses the runway for unique military missions, which are primarily carried out by the Nebraska National Guard to support both state and national defense activities.
“I’m pleased that, after much steady advocacy, the Lincoln Airport will receive the funds necessary to complete the refurbishment of one of its runways
