The body of a man has been found the week after a man was seen entering the water at Renton.

Emergency crews began scouring the river in East Dunbartonshire on Saturday evening (September 13). We previously told how a multi-agency response was launched around 7.30pm, with the Police Air Support Unit, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, and the Coastguard scrambled to the scene.

Police have confirmed that the body of a man was recovered from the River Leven near to India Street, Alexandria, at around 12pm yesterday (September 18).

He has been formally identified and his next of kin is aware. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
