SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — Dexter, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s first human remains detection K9, helped solve a case in San Angelo and retired recently. He has now passed away.

A German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois, Dexter joined the Texas Game Wardens and his handler, Kryssie Thompson, in 2018. For six years, Dexter faithfully served the people of Texas before medically retiring in April 2024 reported the Texas Game Wardens' Facebook post. Thompson and Dexter served the department, Texas Rangers and numerous law enforcement agencies across the state with drownings, homicides and missing person cases.
