SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The Texas Farm Bureau in San Angelo had a cookout where the proceeds went directly toward flood relief.

The cookout featured dollar hamburgers served to around 800 residents. Gene Gully, the County Director, explained the price of the burgers.

"One dollar represents the amount of money in a burger that a farmer gets," Gully said. "The burger, food, groceries, the one dollar. Out of each dollar you spend, the farmer gets about 8.6 cents out of that burger, out of that grocery store purchase. The rest of that money goes to packing, wholesale trade, retail trade, food services, energy. Everybody gets a bite of that grocery."

All of the proceeds went to the victims through the Texas Farm Bureau Relief Fund.
