BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- Central New York farmers say this summer's extreme heat and lack of rain left its mark on the harvest.

It was a season of scorching days and very little rain.

"We had very little rain throughout the whole season, so that really affected all of our crops," said Karin Reeves, owner of Reeves Farms.

The weather forced farmers at Reeves to irrigate almost nonstop just to keep their crops alive.

"We also had a lot of hot weather, especially early on in the summer, and that actually can cause certain plants to drop their blossoms, so if they drop their flowers, that means they won't actually produce fruit," said Reeves.

While the plants stayed healthy, Reeves says the pumpkins didn't size up like usual.
