WILMINGTON, N.C. (WBTV) - A shelter-in-place order was lifted and Friday classes were canceled at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington following a safety threat on campus later deemed not credible.

University officials sent out a warning shortly after midnight on Thursday, Sept. 18, saying the university had received a threat and that two buildings were evacuated. Otherwise, the campus remained open and operational.

That night, around 7:19 p.m., university police said they received anonymous reports about someone on campus with a gun.
