BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- An Arvin man accused of touching an 11-year-old girl while she slept pleaded no contest Friday to a felony charge.

Jeffrey Ruiz, 45, is due back in court Oct. 21 for sentencing. He remains in custody on no bail.

Ruiz was caught June 12 on a surveillance camera masturbating next to the girl, who was asleep, according to police reports. He touched her while committing the act, police said.

Arrested later that day, Ruiz denied being the man in the video despite having the same body type, gait and mannerisms, and being positively identified by another person who viewed the footage, the reports said.
