AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — As storms pass through, leaving behind damage, homeowners face the urgent task of repairing their roofs. With the urgent need to fix storm damage, officials are cautioning about the rising threat of roofing scams.
Scammers often take advantage of vulnerable homeowners by offering quick, cheap repairs and sometimes even showing up door-to-door. Roofing scams are becoming more common, especially after major storms, and many of these contractors lack the necessary credentials to complete the work.
"We do have companies that just pop up or come to town and they go door-to-door asking for money or a deposit," President of the Better Business Bureau, Janna Kiehl, said. "They may say that your roof is unsafe, that there's more damage than there really is. So we tel
