AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) - The Texas Water Development Board reported the largest one-week increase in the area of the state impacted by drought since April 2025, as dry conditions continued to persist in the Texas Panhandle.
In its most recent “Water Weekly” report, the TWDB noted 21% of the state of Texas was experiencing drought conditions as of Sept. 16, compared to 19% the previous week, 30% three months ago and 34% one year ago.
Most counties in the Texas Panhandle were considered in "abnormally dry" conditions, continuing the trend from the previous report, with parts of southern Hall County and Childress County under “moderate” drought conditions.
