B ristol, Tennessee and Virginia, is known as the Birthplace of Country Music. The name stems from the Bristol Sessions, which took place in 1927. Country music recordings were produced that year in a short time in the city in two states, which kicked off the popularity of the music genre(s) that has grown and spread throughout the world. Nashville is Music City. Memphis is Home of the Blues. Bristol is the Birthplace of Country Music.

The Smithsonian Institute has a museum here called the Birthplace of Country Music Museum.
