FLOYDS KNOBS, Ind. —

Members of the Highlander Fire Protection District and the Floyd County Sheriff's Department were celebrated Friday for their heroic efforts in delivering a baby earlier this month.

The event, held at Highlander Station 3 in Galena, marked the first-ever presentation of the Stork Award in the department's 69-year history.

The award recognized Battalion Chief Brandon Stott, AEMT Zachary Simms, and EMT-B Trevor Worster from Highlander Fire, Deputy Nick Fulkerson, and off-duty paramedic Matt Jacobs for their swift response to the emergency call.

Through their teamwork, the team was able to safely deliver the baby without incident, and both the mother and her baby were later released from the hospital in good health.
