SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) - The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office said an investigation is underway regarding allegations that a teacher had physically assaulted a student.

On Friday, September 19, deputies received a report from Spartanburg County School District 2 about a teacher physically hitting a student at Shoally Creek Elementary School.

The report claims that a teacher spit and kicked a student.

Authorities said the teacher involved was a contracted worker through a third-party and is not an employee of the school district. The school district has reportedly ended their relationship with the worker and they will not be returning to the school.

The investigation remains underway by the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office.
