SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. —

The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office said it is investigating a reported incident from Spartanburg County School District 2 that happened at Shoally Creek Elementary School.

According to deputies, the report said a teacher spat on and kicked a student.

The sheriff's office said the teacher involved was not an employee of the school district, but was a worker contracted through a third party.

Officials said the school district ended its relationship with the worker and that person will not be returning to the school.

Spartanburg County School District 2 released the statement sent to Shoally Creek Elementary families Saturday:
