CARY, N.C. (WNCN) -- A death investigation is underway Saturday afternoon in Cary after a motorist spotted a person in a truck who appeared "distressed," police said.

The incident was reported just before 3 p.m. along southbound N.C. 540 Toll just south of Green Level West Road, which is Exit 62, according to the Cary Police Department.

A passing motorist called 911 and reported that the driver of a Ford F-150 pickup truck was on the side of the road, "and looked distressed," Cary Police Sgt. Kenric Alexander told CBS 17.

Officers and other first responders arrived at the scene and found a person dead inside the truck.

Alexander said there was no sign of "foul play," but the investigation into the death is still underway.

No information was released about the person who died.
