SALT LAKE CITY — A 12-year-old boy was hospitalized on Friday after he was hit by a car in Centerville.

The Centerville Police Department said in a news release that the boy was wearing a helmet when he was hit. He was reportedly riding an e-bike within a crosswalk along with a group of friends.

“A vehicle that was southbound on 400 East, and preparing to turn left onto 900 South, had stopped prior to the crosswalk in the two-way left turn lane,” police said in the news release. “That vehicle stopped to allow the pedestrians to cross.”

According to police, a second vehicle proceeded to pass the stopped vehicle while the group crossed the road. That’s when the second vehicle hit the 12-year-old.
