It is noon on a Saturday, and Johanne Killeen is sitting in Al Forno 45 years after she created it with her late husband, George Germon, and yes, she is still at it, running one of Rhode Island’s most iconic restaurants with no plans to move on.

I find her a classy, refined woman, though when I ask her age, she makes it clear with a smile and salty word that it might not be my business.
